The VisHub is involved in several courses across the University. Get in touch with us if you have questions about any of the courses.
Representing Data, 10cts, postgraduate. Course organizer Dr. Uta Hinrichs and Dr. Larissa Pschetz. This course introduces students to the theory and practice of representing data. It covers data visualisation theory and practice, while simultanously throughout the course inviting students to challenge and extend these concepts beyond visual representations. Students examine a range of different methodologies and practices for representing data in a variety of formats including physical and embodied formats. This course is offered by the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI), but open to postgraduate students across the university as well as professionals.
Data Science for Design (DS4D), 20cts, postgraduate. Course organizer Dr Benjamin Bach. This course provides an introduction to programming, used in support of the development of data science techniques, to give a practical facility in manipulating, analysing, visualising and contextualising data. The course teaches Python, exploratory data analysis, data visualization, and data-driven storytelling to both graduates in design and computer science. The course run collaborative projects with real world data through our data fairs.
Data Visualization for Professionals, 10cts, postgraduate. Course organizer Dr Benjamin Bach and Dr Uta Hinrichs. This is a data visualization course designed for working professionals or people outside university looking for upskilling.
